Hey you, people out there! Yes YOU! ^^

This is a call to ALL the Body of Christ in TARCOLLEGE!

Our Easter Event: "One Love", which we aim to see believers coming together to catch the vision and calling upon this land, to let them know that we are placed here by Him not by coincidence but with a higher purpose. Christians, let's unite as ONE and come together as a body of Christ in this college to be that light and salt that we are called to be!

There will be a guest performance and testimony by Jovi Theng who is a local music producer that has worked with S.H.E, F4, Harlem Yu, Jackie Cheong and so on. He is better known as the producer of the famous song 《情非得以》. There is also a special sketch produced by a local community which is promise to touch our hearts and leave us in awe.

Ps.Jonathan Loh from FGA, will be the amazing speaker for the night! He’ll be touching on love, the cross, and of end times. People, you would NOT want to miss this amazing event!

Non-believers are also welcome as this is an Easter Celebration, do come to know what Easter really means and its significance in altering the history of the whole mankind.

Last CF Combine Meeting!!!

It is the Last CF before we head on to DKA with the Christians of TARC! Let us recap what we have been through:

We started off with " Love.Transform" where Kong Hui shared the vision of CF for TARCollege as a whole. We hope to see the discovery of God's love, and let this love flow through us to transform us, our friends, our coursemates, our college.

Then we head on to the second week by rethinking the purpose and objectives of CF through the guidance by Eu Pui in "CF? For What?"

With a better understanding of the purpose of CF, we had a interactive and intense meet up with Mr. Andrew Tan on "Christians? So What?". I believe those that came would not be unchanged by the critical session held on thinking what and who Christians really are.

We went on to a very awesome time with Michael William last week on "What is Love?". Through his stories and sharing, we discover that we really ought to love our brothers as we are a child of God. And loving is not just to be said but is to be put into action. Let's do it!

Finally, we reach the 5th week's CF where it will be a combined session with our dearly brothers and sisters from Joy Group. We will be watching a great life moving movie named "Pilgrim's Progress". Do come and be benefited as we flow together with CF to bring unity not just among Christians, but with God Himself.

Last CF for this semester in a classroom. Let's come, invite your friends along!

The Theme is as what the title says: Christians? SO WHAT?!

Come and get some medical checkups on our understanding of what a Christian actually is, discover and laugh out loud (LOL) on some funny yet true misconception of a Christian and more than that, by the end of the meeting we should be able to understand and appreciate the true identity of what Christianity and its practitioners are.

The man that is going to take on the job of handling this "sensitive" issue would be CF's very own advisor, the young and charming Mr.Andrew Tan!

We do hope you can come for this Tuesday's CF meeting regardless whether you believe in Jesus Christ or not. We wanna understand who are these people that spread through the whole world and altered the course of history and why there are still one of the most controversial people alive today. =)

As we desire to know more of the great plans God has for CF specially this year, let us come together and rethink what CF is for, laugh at some real facts maybe, and even discover a more clear understanding of this student body and its calling as a Christian body in our college! :)

Hey ya!! It's another new year already! (I know it's quite late to say that =p) I believe 2010 was really an awesome year of experience for all of us, would u agree so?? Easter, Freshman Night, Fundraising, High Praise, R.U.N Camp(for some of you who can remember), R.I.U.T National Conference, Christmas Nite, they all, & I meant ALL, were a blast(s) by God's grace! Many wow-ed at what God is doing in TARC! While it was filled with great excitement, no doubt it has not been without its great challenges, and yet, God has never stop being good to us, & by His grace we've been spared and sustained, Amen??

Psalm 124:2-5 (NKJV)
"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,

I saw this from somewhere, and thought it was good to share with you all, let's just remember, no matter what it was that we had to went through, no matter what the danger, discouragement, debt or disappointment, and no matter how the devil has tried to beat us down...we shall continue to PRAISE THE LORD this year- because no matter what has, and may, come our way...we're still standing! Hey peeps! Are you excited for camp? It's this Thursday..remember?! Haha..ok. Now the important part, which is the itinerary and some details.

All campers please gather at TARC Canteen 2 foyer at 11am on 23rd September 2010 (Thursday). The bus will be leaving at 12pm sharp so please be there early so we can have fellowship, registration and etc. * Note: Please have your meal (brunch) by then and don't forget to bring the camp fees.

Things to bring:

1. Bible

2. Note books, stationeries

3. Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, towel...)

4. Track bottom

5. Sufficient T-shirts and pants for 4D3N. Please include dark T-shirts.

Best Way to Score in Exams: Trust God!

Recently I had my final exams and was really praying to God, asking for help for the topics I should be focusing on. Amazingly, He impressed on my heart the right things to study and everything that I had focused on for the first two papers came out!

One hurdle down, but I still had to prepare for another tough subject the next day. I planned to wake up in the middle of the night to continue studying, only to find myself waking up the next day! That morning, I was supposed to coordinate Campus Revo and was hesitant to go because I felt really under-prepared for that paper. However, I made it a point to go because I had informed people about it. Disappointingly, no one turned up!

However, I sensed God asking me to start praying and I obeyed. The Holy Spirit reminded me that when we honour God, He will honour us back. Peace fell upon my heart. I managed to study a little before going into the exam hall, and surprisingly, a question which I studied with that brief time actually came out! I did my best for the paper and let God do the rest.

While waiting for the results to be out, I felt God asking me if I would still hold on to Him if I failed or if I did not achieve my expectations. Initially I was afraid to answer His question but I knew that I should be putting God first. It was hard but then I surrendered to Him and held on to my faith, no matter what may happen next. Two days later, I found out that I was the top student in my class. Praise the Lord! When we surrender to Him first, He opens up the way for us!

Dear all!! How has the weeks been?? It's week 11 of the semester and I believe all of us are busy meeting deadlines for assignments, midterms, and of course preparing for the finals.

But, nevertheless, CF is having fundraising this coming week 12. I repeat, FUNDRAISING! :D The aim for this fundraising is to raise fund for our upcoming CF Camp in September. During the fund raise, we will also promote our camp and upcoming event on 9th August which is High Praise.

It's from 9am-4pm at Canteen 2 foyer from 2nd - 6th August 2010 (Mon - Fri). We will start setting up the booth from 8am and stay back until 5+ to clear the booth everyday.

So, we need your HELP! No help is too small or little. You can help us by visiting our booth, help as manpower, spread the word to your friends and the least you can do is to pray for this fundraising.

Items to be sold: fruit sherbert (perfect ice), sandwiches, curry puff, chee cheong fun, Chosen Treasure Christian Bookstore items, , herbal eggs, pudding, herbal tea.

So what are you waiting for? Set a time to come and give your full support to our event!

It's Fellowship Time

Last week, all cfers have a wonderful and fun fellowship time! It is a good time to relax and have fun and to fellowship before we start to busy preparing for our exam which is around the corner.

The event start with...ice breaker... "the war"

Wow...Throw...Throw...Throw...Throw away all the paper balls...

The game finally start...1st game...

Green beans & Barley...Faster...Faster...Come out with strategy how to separate them in the fastest way...

After that...Tied up all the string to reach the opposite table...

The fastest group get to choose their favorite drink... Danush group got his favourite Coca-Cola..

All the groups are asked to finish 1 bottle of drink and also 2 packets of biscuits...

I enjoy eating the biscuits...

Me too...the biscuits are so tasty!

However,the last group got no choice as only left 1 drink...which is....

Oh...Oh...Oh......I am suffering drinking this..."ginger beer!!!"

*If you want to know how is it taste like, can go and ask kel sern...I think he will remember the taste forever...haha*

The game end with "cross the river"...the group consists of 8 people but only got 3 chairs for them to cross...So, strategy again!!!

Cherokee Legend

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him an leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hea! r all ki nds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him . Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold.
It would be the only way he could become a man!
Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.
He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We, too, are never alone.
Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us, Sitting on the stump beside us.
When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Just because you can't see God, doesn't mean He is not there.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

The annual IFES World Student Day of prayer is one of the ways in which we express our dependence on God and our unity around the world as the IFES family. This year World Student Day is on Friday 6 November – ONE DAY, but 48 hours from the start of the day in Tonga to the end of the day in Samoa.

'Across the Caribbean, our focus will be on the Middle East and North Africa region. Each student group will meet on the week starting 1 November to pray for them and give an offering for the work amongst students in that region.' Desmond, Guyana

..something to think about...

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... How many other things are we missing?

Sumatra earthquake

Indonesia's health minister estimated the death toll from the 7.6 magnitude quake would reach 3,000 occurred on December 26, 2004 just off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia when those listed as 'missing' were included among the dead. The confirmed total now stands at 1,300.

As relief efforts began to concentrate on delivering food, medicine and shelter to survivors, many of whom are living outside in remote villages in the Sumatran jungle, heavy machinery was moved in to clear fallen buildings in the city.

"There's very little chance of finding people alive. It's the beginning of a ramping down in rescue work.""We are taking an aggressive approach today to remove about 140 bodies that we believe are buried near the swimming pool." In the city's main Mjamil hospital which was largely destroyed by the quake, survivors were being treated in tents that also served as operating theatres, many languishing in the suffocating humidity, being fanned by relatives.

"Everything was destroyed, the earthquake took everything from us," said Zainal, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, "when the rain comes we have no where to keep dry.

"We are very grateful but this is the first help we have received since the disaster, please tell them we need help to rebuild our home." In the remote villages in the hills north of Padang, most of which are accessible only on foot, relief supplies were only just beginning to reach survivors who were desperately in need of shelter as torrential rain began to fall last night.
In Jumanak village, some 200 to 300 wedding guests were buried alive, including the bride according to her 15-year-old brother, Iseh.

"I don't want to be here. I know my son is dead. But I cannot go home. I don't want to. So I just wait. But they tell me nothing. It is only bad news." Nasjid.

Philippine flood

MANILA (AFP) – Hundreds of thousands of exhausted Philippine flood survivors crammed into schools, gymnasiums, churches and other makeshift shelters on Tuesday as the death toll from the weekend disaster soared to 246.

Three days after a once-in-a-generation storm pounded Manila and surrounding regions, officials said they were unable to cope with the enormous number of flood victims still pouring into evacuation centres.

"We need clothing, food supplies, food rations and medicine."

Already 3,000 people from the depressed San Andres neighbourhood were at the basketball court, and flood survivors told AFP they were tired and hungry. There was a single toilet for all of them.

Rescue workers are being overwhelmed by the scale of floods in the Philippines that are estimated to have killed at least 140 people, officials say.

'Heroic rescuer'

Reports have also emerged of acts of heroism by members of the public during the floods, including Muelmar Magallanes, who rescued more than 30 people, but ended up sacrificing his own life.

With the help of his older brother, the 18-year-old construction worker tied rope around his waist and took his siblings to safety before going back to the house for his parents, according to the AFP news agency.

Later, he decided go back to save neighbours trapped on rooftops. He then dived back in again when he saw a mother and her six-month-old baby daughter in the water.

"I didn't know that the current was so strong. In an instant, I was under water. We were going to die," the mother Menchie Penalosa told AFP.

"Then this man came from nowhere and grabbed us. He took us to where the other neighbours were, and then he was gone," she added.

Witnesses said an exhausted Mr Megallanes was simply swept away by the water.

His father Samuel said: "He always had a good heart. We had already been saved. But he decided to go back one last time for the girl."
